Dog and Puppy training in Northumberland
Pawsitive Skills Bespoke Dog Training offers dog and puppy training with classroom bases in Ashington and Pegswood, but covering Northumberland, which focuses on building the bond between you and your dog; meaning your dog does what you ask because they want to, not because they have to.
Dog training isn’t just about your dog. The most integral part of the training process is you. That’s why we work with you to make sure you can take training forward for lifelong learning. We help build a bond, so you can have a harmonious life.
Our desire is for you and your dog to have a calm, well rounded relationship, meaning you can live your lives to the fullest. We aim to make your dog dreams a reality.
We will not train your dog for you, we believe in giving you the ability to be able to train your dog in any skill throughout their lives and in any environment. We will work alongside you to help discover what really makes your dog tick and how to use that to your own advantage – even if we have to stand on the side lines making silly noises.
Puppy Skills Classes
Our puppy training classes are fun interactive training sessions using games to keep things exciting for your pup. We know you don’t want a livewire all the time though so we end each session with a calm activity. You will learn the basic commands, but also so much more and we’re open to throwing a little trick or two in there – like how to get the perfect selfie.
Classes are held in Pegswood and Ashington, Northumberland.
Basic Skills Training
This class is targeted at dogs aged 6-12 months old who are in need of basic training. It will follow a very similar program to Puppy Skills and will teach basics such as sit, lie down, stay, loose leash walking and recall. These classes are kept to a maximum of four dogs to allow for full focus to be given.
Adolescent Skills Dog Training
The follow on from Puppy Skills classes, learning things like extended stays, emergency stop, controlled greetings and control through doorways.
Courses run at our Pegswood base.
One to One dog training in Northumberland
One to one dog training can cover more bespoke puppy training, or work on things like separation anxiety; which I have done further training on. These are good if you have difficulty attending the classes for whatever reason.
Dog Show Coaching
Show coaching is new in my repertoire but I’m certainly enjoying it and we’re seeing great results – both in the pedigree ring and in the fun dog show arena. These are a great way of building your dog’s focus on you, but the shows themselves are another brilliant way of building up that bond between you.

Welcome Loki!
Loki joined the Pawsitive family recently, all the way from Romania! His mum and dad want to make sure he has the confidence and skills to thrive in his new life. They're doing all the right things, and this bright wee boy is gonna be a superstar!
It's Chriiiiistmaaaaaasssssss
On December 14th we held our first ever Pawsitive family Christmas Pawty and we all had lots of fun! There was puppachinos, musical sits, doggy limbo, goody bags for dogs and humans alike - and we all made our first Christmas present to take home! We hope everyone loves their paintings! Keep an eye out for more events in future
Welcome Little Luka
On December 1st we welcomed Luka into our family. A Hungarian Pumi pup who is destined for the show ring. He'll be doing basic training first so look out for him in class as a demo dog!
