How we train
I fully believe positive reinforcement training is the best way to train and I like to spend time helping you learn what your dog responds to most. I will never use any negative or aversive methods that will cause any distress to your dog.
Positive Reinforcement Dog Training
Positive reinforcement can mean different things to different dogs. We usually start with high value food rewards as most dogs respond to these; however some dogs work better for a toy or ball, and some just prefer a certain tone of voice from the owner. Our training will help you trial all these methods and encourage you to be able to recognise which one works best for your team. Sometimes you’re able to use different methods for different skills – for example a recall often works best with a happy voice.
I train in a fun way that focuses on building your bond with your dog and coaches you to understand how best to train your pup in any situation. We will use games to keep the training exciting, as well as focusing on basics such as sit, stay, down.
Train the Trainer model
I use a train the trainer model, which means I teach you how to teach your dog - giving you lifelong skills. This means you can adapt to changes in yours and your dog’s lives and try and prevent any issues arising. It also means that if you want to train other tricks you have the methods to do that.
