Who we are
We are Heather and Boson, and we make up Team Pawsitive Skills. We live in Northumberland and the inspiration behind this – Boson, a 7 year old pugalier, loves adventuring through the county.
I trained Boson from day one and he knew his first trick after just nine days, but I noticed the stronger our bond got, the easier it was to teach him; and that if strangers tried anything he would refuse to do what they’d asked – even professional trainers.
This inspired me to want to work with owners to allow them to get the best results in a way that works for the dog and the owner. I’ve found helping build that bond gives owners the skills for lifelong training.
I spent a year and a half working alongside another trainer, which really fuelled my passion for working with the owner to get the right result. I have also shadowed other trainers to see different methods of training a puppy and how they work.
Once my passion was ignited, I sought to improve my knowledge and completed courses on training dogs, canine first aid, separation anxiety and more.
When I was asked to go back to an owner whose puppy I had previously helped train and we saw really powerful results, I decided to set up Pawsitive Skills and help other owners unlock the potential in their dogs.
I am always willing to adapt and learn so please don’t hesitate to get in touch to chat about your needs.
